Folks
It is now to the point, everyone that travels needs a passport. They are not hard to get, why put it off? Mine has been with me all over the world for 45years.

RE: Food Riots in Mexico??

I understand food prices have risen worldwide an average of 40% since summer 07.
The problem is most countrys worldwide can not raise enough food to feed their people! Plus their government does'nt care, good
ol americians decide to send them aid, guess what the aid will not get down to the starving people.
Bio-fuels of different products, are some of the competion for our food grains as well as meat fats. Another big deal is we ete way to much meat of all kinds, compare a bushel of grain for animal food to the same amount as human food. As the population of our world grows problems / shortages, will increase big time.

RE: what's your thoughts on 97 f 250

That TV will handle most trailers, I had a 97, 460v/8. auto. - pulled a 35' with slide outs, and about anything else I wanted too. That engine taken care of will do the job - it is a real work horse. BUT I
have to tell you it truly enjoys gasoline!!!

RE: Repacking wheel bearing every year

Guys, I have to disagree with most of the comments. I pull my TT fast, and long hours, the heat takes its toll. IFFfff--- you only check you bearings 1 time a year? let us say 8 weeks after your yearly check, a greese seal in back blows out on you, also maybe you tighten the nut to much and put a stress on the outer bearing. I talked to a man not long ago in an RV dealership, he had ruined an axle on his 32 5th.,and was down a few days waitting on an axle replacement. I ask him about greese, his anawer was I had a mechanic greese them about a year ago. All people that greese the bearings do not know what they are doing.....
Pull the wheels, check the bearings yourself, peace of mind is worth a lot to me,I sure do not want to loose a bearing, at night between Needles and Barstow

RE: What size were the super-wide tires the 70s Fords had?

Back in the good ol days, we at times ran 10:00x15" even 12:00x15".
Dick Cepek use to handle all these sizes. Say 12:00x16" x 35" tall, is a big tire. In fact I still have a set on a 1965 ford 1/2t.

RE: Ford 460 cuts off over 35mph.

The 460v/8, had to have a lot of fuel pressure to operate right. The above is good advice, check at the carb. inlet and change that filter.
If you can not get the pressure up after changing filters - may have to replace the fuel pump, that year may have the pump in the fuel tank, can not remember?

RE: ~ 50 volts (AC) trailer frame to ground....

About the quickest way to look for a cause is to begin with a polarity tester. That will show if the outlets all the way to the trailer cord, are wired correctly. On a 3 wire outlet - the oblong is the ground for the green or bare wire, the shorter vertical slot is for the hot most times black, the longer vertical slot is for the neutral wire - most times white. I recently checked my brothers trailer, same as your problem - the outlet he plugged into in his garage, had been replaced and was wired wrong.

RE: Considering Alaska Trip

This year we will cross into Canada in sweetgrass, MT. and return into the US @ Vancover, BC. After our trip to Alaska. From MO. it is a good 3 hard days drive to northern MT. and then 4 or 5 days on to Alaska. So figure 10 days up, 10 days back, and 40 to 50 days in Alaska,so 60 or 70 days total trip.
Another first trip you may consider - Baja down to about Mulege.

RE: What am I missing in Quartzite?

We are all different, is that not great???? I have been to quartsite several times when no one was in sight, except in the town "center". We enjoy the desert and we also enjoy mountains and the ocean. Our country is blessed with plenty of both for us all to enjoy. You add the country to our north and south, no need for airplanes & ocean flights. When we return from Alaska last of the summer we will be boon docking the desert....

transporting / shipping fresh fish from alaska to lower 48.

I am wondering if a person can have fish flash froze in Alaska, pack in ice chests and safely bring home to the lower 48, with out spoilage? Also if we turn our RV refrig. on high and fill it with quick froze fish, will that work? Suggestions from you experienced hands.

RE: Small trailers

This may help, a few years ago we used a 15' but no bathroom,
last year I used a 16' thor for 16 weeks by myself it got very small,
I then bought a 16' casita that had a lot of room and every thing. And before the 16' thor, we had a 22' alpinelite 5th and it was a jewel.
Now we have a 24' TT in the past we have had 35' TT and 35' 5th with slides. The 24' TT is the best buy, best pulling, and has more room for the buck then any. It probaably pulls better easier then the 22' 5th by alpimlight,.
Remember as we age, there is a lot to be said for not having stairs _any amount_.

RE: trailer power at home help

Yes, you can.
The outlet is more then likely 50a / 220v. Which is what you would have at a campground, so the adaptor will work fine.

RE: 1/2 vs. 3/4 Ton Tow Vehicle

I am now using my 4th - 5.4L ford - in a 1/2 t pick up, they are a
little work horse. I am pulling a 24' TT now amd have no gripes. Yes I had a checy 4x4, with their 5.3 and it will not do the job like the 5.4L, and a tow package, the 5.4 will also handle a 28' TT with no strain.

RE: Can I justify a diesel ?

I did not see if the rig is a TT or a 5th ??? If it is a TT and your truck has the 5.4L and trailer tow package, I would check the hitch weight of the TT if it is under a 1000 lbs. I would use the truck. No way you can pay for a new diesel rig with no more towing then you menshion. I have towed a 28' TT all over the country with an ol 351v/8 and the new 5.4l v/8. I use a 5.4L now.
